Windows Phone 8 to support 1080p displays on next update

Tuesday must be rumor day with The Verge reporting that they have sources who promise that the updated Windows 8 phone will bring support for 1080p resolution and new 5 inch plus devices.

At this point in time Windows Phone 8 (anyone think we need a better name?) supports WVGA, WXGA, and 720p resolutions.

It remains unclear when this update will occur but it might arrive with the new devices, codenamed Blue, which is currently on track for fall, most likely October.
