The Alliance for Wireless Power and the Power Matters Alliance have agreed to make their two standards work together.
Consumers don't really care which standard is adopted, only that it works. At this point, there are numerous standards that don't work together. Users only want “wireless charging” to mean “I put my phone down on this charging mat, and it charges.”

The Power Matters Alliance (PMA) has pilot programs in Starbucks and McDonald’s. Tuesday’s agreement means that each will adopt the others specs in their own specs for transmitters and receivers. Demand for wireless charging figures to be huge. Hopefully, Tuesdays agreement will move the industry in adopting one standard that will work for all devices in the future.
