Yahoo! Announces Global Implementation of Do Not Track (DNT) This Summer

Yahoo! announced today their intent to implement a Do Not Track header solution sit-wide by this summer. It has been in development since 2011. The site-wide DNT mechanism, which includes Yahoo! Owned Right Media and Interclick, should make it simple for users of Yahoo! to specify their ad preferences.

According to their press release:

” This implementation continues our leadership in user privacy where Yahoo! was among the first to launch an Ad Interest Manager three years ago and the industry AdChoices Icon program two years ago. With this new feature, Yahoo! continues its leadership in privacy innovation while continuing to create the free online services consumers demand that are made possible through advertising.”

We will be curious to see how this actually works.
