First came the news that Yahoo was hacked and at least 500 million users data was stolen. Then came the news that Yahoo scanned user’s emails at the behest of a U.S. intelligence agency.
All of this bad news might have prompted users to switch to an alternative email service such as Gmail or Microsoft Outlook. To do so, a user might have wanted to forward their accounts.
More bad news. Yahoo has suspended auto-forwarding. According to the Associated Press, since October, the company has disabled Yahoo Mail's automatic email forwarding feature that would allow users to automatically redirect incoming emails from their Yahoo account to another account.
Yahoo says the feature is under development: "This feature is under development. While we work to improve it, we've temporarily disabled the ability to turn on Mail Forwarding for new forwarding addresses. If you've already enabled Mail Forwarding in the past, your email will continue to forward to the address you previously configured."
People who already have the feature enable are Ok. Users who now want to use the feature are out of luck.
It is speculated that Yahoo is trying to keep its customer’s accounts active during the time that it is in negotiations with Verizon. Verizon has already asked for a reduction in the sales price of 1 billion.
And you better delete your account before that feature becomes unavailable. As the Reg media reports that British Telecoms customers have not been able to access that feature as well.
"Sorry, the delete feature is currently unavailable. This feature will become available by the end of September," the error message reads.
