Yahoo is closing up shop in China

According to a report by the Wall Street Journal today, the company is going to let go between 200 and 300 employees.

The employees are part of a research center that Yahoo is shutting down. The Beijing facility employed mostly engineers and performed research and development projects. It is the only remaining facility Yahoo has in China.

“We will be consolidating certain functions into fewer offices, including to our headquarters in Sunnyvale, Calif.,” Yahoo said.

Under Marissa Mayer's leadership, the company has been belt tightening and has terminated 700 to 800 overseas employees.
