This laptop works great, and the wireless internet card makes it easy to connect to public connections.

I'm actually writing this on my laptop

Installed Ubuntu 8.10 from the latest iso d/l. Worked great!

I had already configured the laptop to dual boot with Windows 7 and Vista Home Basic, dowloaded the 8.10 cd iso, burned the iso under Vista, booted from the CD, tweaked the partition size a bit, and let the install run.

Rebooted, let the boot loader do its thing and everything worked great including wireless.

Installed pclinuxos 2009.1. Had to download dkms-broadcom-wl to get the wireless working, but now it runs flawlessly. Everything else configured. No problems.

does not work out of the box the wifi needs some work you need to download linux-backports-module to get it to work. When you update to the new kernel you will have to re download the updated linux-backports-module kind of a pain. i would download the new backport mod before you reboot if you depend on the wifi like i do it will not update it self . the ati driver that ubuntu has are crap. if you play like quake kind of games it is very distored to the point you cant see your way out, download the self install from ati dont even install ubuntus. dont install the manual package till after you update the kernel i did that and xserver was not working when i rebooted update everything you can get by with out glx till you update everything

I don't understand how to setup ati drivers did what every website tell me to do

1.Make sure that you're using my yum configuration from the installing software question.
2.Open a Terminal.
3.Become root:
su -

4.Install the driver:
yum install kmod-fglrx

5.Shut down X:
init 3

6.Log in as root.
7.Enable the driver:
fglrx-config-display enable

8.Rebuild your kernel configuration (otherwise it may try to load a conflicting driver during boot):
new-kernel-pkg --mkinitrd --update $(rpm -q --queryformat="%{version}-%{release}.%{arch}\n" kernel | tail -n 1)

9.Reboot your machine:
reboot
Didnt work couldnt even startx just flickers for like 5 mins just to get nothing. wifi works out of the box
