Very compact and lightweight external DVD writer that runs on USB power and thus needs no AC adapter. lsusb describes the device as

Bus 001 Device 002: ID 0e8d:1836 MediaTek Inc.

Both watching DVDs and burning ISOs works absolutely flawlessly. A very good device to buy if your laptop's internal optical drive has died (again).

Tested under fully updated Debian Sid.
