Your graphics drivers might be current, but the upscaling files bundled with your games can be another story. DLSS Swapper gives you a way to change those files without waiting for the game developer to release a patch. Version 1.2.7.0 makes that job considerably less tedious by letting you work on multiple games at once.
What Is DLSS Swapper, and Why Is It Cool?
DLSS Swapper is a free, open-source Windows utility for downloading, managing, and swapping supported NVIDIA DLSS, AMD FSR, and Intel XeSS DLL files. You can try a newer version or return to an older one depending on what you / your system likes..
Think of a DLL (Dynamic Link Library) as a component the game calls on to perform a particular job. Pretty much off of Windows / programs use them. In this case, that job involves graphics technologies such as upscaling, which builds a higher-resolution image from a lower-resolution starting point.
A newer library might improve image quality or address visual problems in a compatible game, even when the developer has not updated the bundled files. DLSS Swapper makes experimenting with those versions more convenient, with an option to restore the original DLL if things go sideways. In short, you have more control over how yu game looks without having to wait for a patch that may never come.
Why the New Bulk Swap Feature Matters
Version 1.2.7.0 adds bulk swapping through the toolbar on the Games page. Select multiple games and apply DLLs and presets in one pass.
If you maintain several compatible games, that is a welcome reduction in repetitive work. Once you have decided which changes you want to make, you can apply them together instead of repeating the process title by title. Less housekeeping, more gaming.
The update also fixes a bug that could prevent the game library from loading and makes full-library scans faster. Update notifications have been repaired, an update banner has been added, and DLSS Frame Generation preset C is now included.
How to Swap DLSS Files
Close the game before making changes, then open DLSS Swapper.
- Download a replacement library: With the game closed, open DLSS Swapper, go to Library, choose the DLSS, FSR, or XeSS version you want to try, and download it.
- Apply it to a game: Go to Games, select your game, click the library component you want to change, choose the downloaded version, and click Swap.
- Test and restore if needed: Launch the game normally and compare image quality, performance, and stability. If the results are worse, close the game and use Restore in DLSS Swapper to return to the original file.
For multiple games, use the bulk-swap control in the Games toolbar, select your games, choose the DLLs and presets, and apply the changes together. Test an individual game before making broad changes.
Newer Does Not Automatically Mean Better
DLSS Swapper cannot add DLSS to a game that never supported it, and swapping files does not guarantee better performance, cleaner graphics, or trouble-free gameplay. A replacement can even stop a game from launching until you restore the original.
Test changes before applying them broadly.
NOTE: Although, clearly this is NOT a cheating program. For games with anti-cheat protection, check whether replacing these files is permitted first, before it is a problem.
Geek Verdict
This is the sort of utility we like: a practical tool that gives PC gamers more control. Bulk swapping makes an already useful idea easier to manage across a collection, while the scanning fixes address the basic business of getting your games to appear.
