How to Add Details Pane to the File Explorer Context Menu
By Timothy Tibbetts |
If you prefer to get the most space from File Explorer, but occasionally need the Details pane, you can add the option to the Context Menu to easily enable or disable the Preview Pane whenever you like.
Before you proceed, adding the Details Pane is a global setting meaning that the Details Pane will be added to all Windows, but again, if you want to turn it on and off occasionally, that shouldn't be a problem.
If you like, you can adjust the view, and those settings will be preserved the next time you open the Preview Pane.
Here is how the Context Menu option looks before and after making use of this feature.
Download Add Details Pane to the File Explorer Context Menu from MajorGeeks and extract the files in Add or Remove Details Pane to the File Explorer Context Menu.zip.
Two files are included:
Add Details Pane to the File Explorer Context Menu - Add Details Pane to the File Explorer Context Menu.reg
Remove Details Pane to the File Explorer Context Menu (Default) - Remove Details Pane to the File Explorer Context Menu.reg
Double-click Add Details Pane to the File Explorer Context Menu.reg
Click Yes when prompted by User Account Control.
Click Yes when prompted by Registry Editor.
Click OK when prompted by the Registry Editor.
No reboot is required.
Double-click Remove Details Pane to the File Explorer Context Menu.reg to restore the default File Explorer Context Menu.
