How to Keep Your IP Address Hidden in WhatsApp

WhatsApp has introduced a new privacy feature that allows you to conceal your location while making calls. This is achieved by relaying the call through WhatsApp servers and not directly connecting to the recipient's device. This is an additional layer of privacy, allowing you to protect your internet protocol (IP) address from others during WhatsApp calls through a simple process.

The feature may not be available in all areas yet. Also, it is important to note that group calls are automatically relayed through WhatsApp's servers, ensuring your IP address remains hidden from other participants.



To access: Go to Settings > Privacy. From there, scroll to the bottom, tap Advanced, and toggle on Protect IP address in calls.



Note: Call quality may decrease when using call relaying. WhatsApp calls are end-to-end encrypted and cannot be listened to by anyone, including WhatsApp.

Another useful privacy option is to ensure that Live Location is set to none. This prevents your location data from being shared with WhatsApp. The initial steps are the same as above. Within the privacy settings, you will see the Live Location entry.

This is a simple option that is easy to implement to help preserve your privacy while using WhatsApp.
