How to Restore Missing Pin to Start Context Menu in Windows 10
By Timothy Tibbetts |
When you right-click on a program or shortcut, you should be able to select "Pin to Start" with the Context Menu. If that option disappeared, it's not a big deal, but it is an easy fix.

Pin to Start looks like this:
Since we're editing the registry, be sure to back up the registry before proceeding.
Press the Windows Key + R, type in regedit and press enter.
Navigate to, or enter in the address bar HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer.
If you're having this problem, odds are you see a key on the right-hand side calledNoChangeStartMenu. Right-click and choose Delete.
Similar to the above, we need to check two areas for a key called LockedStartLayout and delete them. They are:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer
Finally, we need to open PowerShell as admin and type in regsvr32 /i shell32.dll then Enter.
Reboot and the Pin to Start should now be back.
