How to Stop Google Chrome Crash Reports Sending Personal Information
By Timothy Tibbetts |
When Google Chrome crashes, a crash report is generated and sent to Google to improve their browser. Information sent includes the version of your browser, extensions installed, the website visited at the time of the crash, operating system, and country. Also, personal information, including payment methods and passwords, can be sent. Here's how to disable Chrome from sending your personal information.
Crash report settings have moved slightly over the years, but you're looking for the People section in settings.
Click on the three dots in the top-right corner (Customize and control Google Chrome), and click on Settings. The People section should be near or at, the top.
Click on the arrow to the right of Sync and Google services to expand those settings.
Scroll down to Other Google services and uncheck Help improve Chrome's features and performance.
You will need to restart your browser when it's convenient for you for the changes to be applied. Your open tabs or pages will be saved and automatically opened.
That's it!
