How to Stop Microsoft Edge Sharing Visited Sites with Bing
By Jon Ben-Mayor |
Microsoft Edge web browser users have recently identified a worrying privacy issue where the browser automatically sends almost every visited webpage to Bing. This was brought to light by a Reddit user; since then, many users have been trying to understand the reason behind this occurrence.
It has been determined that this issue results from an updated feature in Microsoft Edge, named Show Suggestions to follow creators in Microsoft Edge, which is enabled by default. Although this feature is not new, in previous versions of Edge, it was limited to a few specific sites, such as YouTube.
As per reports, Microsoft Edge communicates with the domain bingapis.com for nearly every webpage opened in the browser. To avoid the automatic transmission of page information to Microsoft, Microsoft Edge users who do not use the Follow Creator feature should disable it. This feature is enabled by default; it impacts all Edge web browser users.

To stop the transmission of page info, you will need to open Microsoft Edge's Privacy Settings. This can be accomplished by entering edge://settings/privacy in Edge's address bar or via Settings > Privacy, search, and services.

Once you are there, jump down to the Services section at the bottom of the page. You will then toggle off the get notified when creators you follow post new content and show suggestions to follow creators in Microsoft Edge. Once done, restart the browser, and Edge will stop submitting page info to Bingapis.
According to The Verge, Microsoft is investigating this.
