What Does "Lets Go Brandon" Mean?
By Timothy Tibbetts |
You've probably heard the memes and songs "Let's Go Brandon" on social media websites and wondered who Brandon is and what it all means?
Brandon refers to 28-year-old Nascar driver Brandon Brown, who won his first Xfinity Series in early October 2021 and was interviewed by NBC Sports reporter Kelli Stavast. Stavast asked Brandon about the chants of “Let’s go, Brandon” coming from the crowd.
Video tutorial:
Of course, there's only one problem with the question, and one she probably wanted to avoid on live television where swearing isn't allowed.
That's because the crowd was chanting “F*** Joe Biden,” which has similar syllables to “Let’s go, Brandon,” but was clearly what the crowd was chanting.
Even Stavast couldn't keep a straight face or resist a slight chuckle at 10 seconds when asking Brandon about the chants.
There's even a fun rap song that clarifies what is going on.
If you're wondering how Brandon reacted to the publicity, he seems fine with it.
Let's Go Brandon has since become popular with Republicans being used on the house floor and appearing on t-shirts, hats, face masks, and stickers.
And, as mentioned, a lot of memes.
Unlike many viral memes and videos, the popularity of this one is limited by Biden's age and the amount of time left in his political career.
