Sinking Office Chair Fix
By Timothy Tibbetts |
We've all experienced the sinking office chair. The adjustable hydraulics cylinder eventually fails, and you need to find a new cylinder, use a chair fix kit, or buy a new chair. But, if you're not ready to give up your favorite office chair, we have an inexpensive fix.
All you need is a hose clamp that you can buy at any hardware store for less than two bucks. Most cylinders are about the same size, so count on getting a hose clamp the can tighten down to one inch. We believe the standard size is 1.1 inches.

Flip your chair over. Push the plastic cover out of the way. Add a hose clamp on to the cylinder to lock the seat at the desired height and tighten firmly.

Voila. Chair no longer sinks when you sit.
If you prefer, you can purchase a chair kit at Amazon that comes with different sized C-clamps that slid over the cylinder. As an Amazon Associate, we earn a commission if you purchase an item using our affiliate links.
