How to Turn Microsoft Edge Secure Network VPN Service on or Off

By Timothy Tibbetts

on 08/15/2022

Beginning with Microsoft Edge 103.0.1255.0, Microsoft Edge will feature Microsoft Edge Secure Network.

Like most VPNs, Microsoft Edge Secure Network can encrypt your connection, prevent online tracking, and keep your location private. While some of the best VPN services cost money, Microsoft Edge Secure Network is free if you use Microsoft Edge.

One downside is that Microsoft Edge Secure Network has a 1GB limit on bandwidth. Opera web browser has no such limitation with its free VPN.

While Microsoft Edge Secure Network will eventually be available on all Edge browsers, it is only available in Canary 103.0.1255.0 until Microsoft releases it publicly.

There is confusion about who or when someone can see the Microsoft Edge Secure Network. While it's supposed to be available in 103.0.1255.0, we didn't have it using 104.0.1271.0 Canary.

To see if it's available, click the three dots in the top-right corner and look for Secure Network.

Otherwise, the Opera web browser is years ahead of this feature, and it's free.
