How to Change the Spectrum Cable Box Default Channel

Spectrum DVR boxes, by default, will automatically open to the Spectrum news channel. You can change this so that any channel you prefer is the default channel when you turn on your cable box.
We don't know about you, but most Spectrum communities don't have enough content to behave like CNN, Fox, or MSNBC. Instead, you often get the same 10-15 minutes of news with weather interruptions every 5 minutes or more. We found that annoying.
The advantage of setting a favorite channel is that you can not only decide what channel is automatically on, but you can also let the cable box automatically open the last channel you were viewing.
Press the Menu button on your Spectrum remote.
Click on Settings.
At the bottom, scroll right, and click on Display.
Click on Power on Channel.
Scroll through, find your favorite channel, and click OK or Select (OK/SEL).
Press Exit or any button (Guide, Menu, etc.) to continue watching television.
