TuneLite is an app designed to help musicians learn to play songs by slowing or speeding up the tempo, repeating sections, creating loops, and adjusting pitch.
TuneLite allows you to set the tempo, timbre, and pitch independently of each other, allowing you many options to meet your needs, vocally or with an instrument.
TuneLite can preserve the harmonic structure of the sound and transpose a sound over a wide range of semitones without changing its timbre. In other words, you can slow or speed the tempo down without losing the quality of the song, giving you a much better feel over any other app I've used in this genre.
There are some uses here for recording - for example: You could layer vocals by pitch, creating some neat effects. But the most practical use in learning. You can take some shredding lead, drop the beats per minute down to -50%, and learn the section note for note, gradually increasing the BPM until you have it right.
As a drummer, I did this to Bat Country by Avenge Sevenfold. In this way, I could hear the fills by Jimmy the Rev perfectly -- and understood why I have no talent at drumming and should remain here typing software reviews and drinking coffee.
The program is free to try, but saving is disabled for the free version. You can purchase the program for $19.95 / year or a lifetime license for $39.95.
