Boom sounds like it would be an explosion, but, in reality, this program is designed to be a very simple music player.

The idea behind Boom is to provide an easy-to-use audio player for the casual user. It is portable, so no installation is needed. It plays all the popular audio formats, including MP3, FLAC, WAV, MP4/M4A, WMA, etc. The controls are as simple as promised with back, forward, pause, volume, repeat, full screen, and others. It does not seem to be able to find drives properly, a problem if you don’t have the standard C: and D: drives, for example.

We have our main drive as C and the backup drive (with our music) on F. The program sees A, C, and D, and 2 out of those three don’t exist. Under preferences, it allows you to select a specific folder, but once again, it does not see the F drive, only C. If you keep your music in the default Music folder, this won’t be a problem. The program works great under the KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) method, but if Boom wants to be a 5-star program, then it needs to first properly detect drives and then be able to scan your drives for music.
