Counter-Strike was originally a Half-Life mod and the developers hired the creators and made it official. There’s a lot of different ways to play it but at the end of the day, it’s a multiplayer game where you pick either terrorist or counter-terrorist and eliminate the other team. Some maps require you to defuse a bomb, rescue a hostage or escort a VIP. Typically you will find, like in many games, certain modes will be more popular than others. I used to play a map called de_dust, a bomb defusing scenario and I literally played that map over and over countless thousands of times. If you decide to play this game, try playing with bots first. You will find a lot of REALLY good players, some who have played since 2000, you will be a newbie and you will get spanked. Hard. But if you want to see one of the staples of multiplayer first person shooters (FPS) for free, then this is a good choice. See the video below for an idea of the game-play. If you don't like this game and never played the original Half-Life, I suggest you do.
