DamnVid is a cross-platform application to download and convert videos from your hard drive or dozens of video sharing websites including YouTube, Dailymotion, Veoh, Metacafe, etc.

DamnVid comes as a portable executable. This means that the files will be extracted for you.

The interface is relatively simple. Add files, or enter a URL. If you have a URL in your clipboard (memory), it will auto-load that for you. Other options also become available including monitoring the clipboard, automatic download and convert and adding more videos from other popular websites. Otherwise, you can close the windows and return to the main windows where you can select encoding options. By default, all encoding options are off.

You can choose from many encoding options including iPod, iPhone, PSP, ultra-high, high-definition, and even video or audio only. Click on let's go! will begin the encoding.

Overall, DamnVid makes downloading and converting videos relatively easy. We noticed some lag in places and some videos that didn't seem to want to download and convert. Odds are most popular video download sites might have changed code making DamVid useless for direct URL downloading. Because DamnVid isn't updated often, you can find better choices for online downloading and converting.
