Free Video Player, unlike its name, can play all of your video and audio files with 100% quality.
Free Video Player was one we took our time evaluating. The company is new to us, and sometimes an overly simple name like Free Video Player raises our eyebrows. Since you're reading this, you know it passed all of our tests. It features an attractive interface, is simple to use, and comes in at a reasonable download size.
Let's get some of the negative out of the way. The first thing missing was the option to make Free Video Player the default player for music or video. Another would be the lack of drag-and-drop. You'll need to select Open File from the Window or File, Open File. While there's a handful of settings and preferences, Free Video Player falls short here. A recent MP3 we loaded only had the exact file name listed as the song. Free Video Player didn't, or can't show any of the details including Author Title, or artwork. There's no option to get this information from the internet. This could be by design assuming Free Video Player intends to remain simple. Still, it just looks weird seeing a default image rather than the album artwork.
That all said, it played all the MP3 and videos we threw at it in what appears to be perfect quality. It does also allow you to snapshot video images and bookmark specific parts of your video so that you can go back to them later and create playlists. This seems out of place currently.
The known supported formats at the time of this review include TS, MTS, M2TS, MXF, TRP, TP, MP4, M4V, QT, MOV, MPG, MPEG, MPEG2, MPEG4, MJPG, MJPEG, AVI, 3GP, 3G2, FLV, MOD, TOD, RM, RMVB, WMV, ASF, MKV, SWF, F4V, VOB, DAT, DV, DIF, OGM, WTV, DVR-MS, Bink video, WebM, FLAC, WAV, WMA, MP3, MP2, AAC, AC3, AIFF, APE, CAF, MPC, QCP, OGG, M4A, M4B, AUD, MKA, AIFC, RA, RAM, AU, AIF, and CUE.
Free Video Player is a perfect fit for anyone wanting a reasonably sized video and audio player that can cover most formats. Those looking to manage their music or video collections will want something with more features.
