FreedomGPT is a new AI chatbot that promises to give you uncensored and private conversations. Unlike other chatbots, such as ChatGPT, FreedomGPT does not have any safety filters or ethical guardrails built into it. It also runs locally on your own device, so your data does not leave your computer
FreedomGPT is based on two open-source AI models: LLaMA and Alpaca. LLaMA is a large language model that can generate text, translate languages, and answer questions. Alpaca is a smaller and faster version of LLaMA.
One of the main features of FreedomGPT is that it does not censor any topic or question. You can ask the AI anything you want, no matter how controversial, provocative, or offensive it might be. The AI will try to answer your query without any bias or judgment. However, this also means that the AI might say things that are inaccurate, misleading, or harmful. You should not take the AI's responses as facts or advice but rather as a way to explore different perspectives and opinions. FreedomGPT, nor any AI model, is not a source of truth or morality.
The creators of FreedomGPT believe that interfacing with a large language model should be like interfacing with your own brain or a close friend and that censorship can have a chilling effect on how or if people are willing to use AI. They also argue that AI safety is not advanced through censorship and that every company and individual should have access to their own 100% private large language model. Further, IMHO, censorship of information would then lead to one branch of information being controlled by whoever owns the technology stifling innovative thought and effectively using the trained AI to train the human brain. A very Orwellian thought, indeed.
To use FreedomGPT, you need to download the app and install it on your Mac or Windows device. You will then be asked to download a language model. The Alpaca bin file was over 4 gig, so you'll need some space. Once downloaded, click the blue select button. The app has a simple and intuitive chat-based interface that lets you interact with the AI. You can type anything you want, and the AI will respond accordingly. You can also customize the AI's personality, tone, and style by using special commands.
The other huge benefit of FreedomGPT is that it runs on your device locally. This has several benefits but mainly is the data doesn't leave your device, so if you are working on a project that is confidential - says code project for work - the data stays with you, and you do not need to worry about it leaking out to the world our who has ownership rights. Also, because everything is local, there is no need for an internet connection or waiting for a slow website to respond.
FreedomGPT is not for everyone. It is intended for users who are aware of the limitations and dangers of large language models and who are willing to take responsibility for their own actions and interactions with the chatbot. Some people might find it disturbing or unpleasant to chat with an AI that has no moral compass or social norms. Some people might also be concerned about the legal and ethical implications of using such an AI. However, if you are curious about what an uncensored and private AI chatbot can do, you might want to give FreedomGPT a try. It might surprise you, challenge you, or even entertain you.
