HandyPad is a free portable autosaving mini text editor for simple on-the-fly note-taking.

HandyPad allows you to quickly scribble free form memos that are automatically saved as you type them. Never again lose a thought or idea due to forgetting to save them as HandyPad's autosave function ensures they are kept. It is like an ever-present scrap pad suitable to jot down an occasional idea, a day plan, phone numbers, web site or e-mail addresses, etc. It can also be used for any other word processing purposes without the risk of losing any unsaved data if your system suddenly stops responding, for instance.

HandyPad's interface is not complicated and hovers above the systray when needed. All four available commands are visible along the top of the sizable window. The commands are Save, Clear Memo, Clear Clipboard, and Hide. It doesn't get much more straightforward than that.
