We at MajorGeeks handle a LOT of data. Downloads, images, exes documents, saved logs, 10's of thousands of photographs in both jpg and cr2's -- YIKES! After years of ignoring and having a rather random -- but complete -- storage system. It came to the point where I couldn't find anything in this massive, scattered mess. It was time to sort things out... Enter I started cobbling some batch files to help, and the next thing you know, File Organizer Thing was born!!!
Imagine you have a massive collection of 30,000–40,000 memes, and you want to organize them by date and highlight seasonal themes. With File Organizer Thing, you could do this in just a few clicks! Simply select the file types you want, set the date filter for (in this case) October, and apply the prefix "Halloween" to label those images. Then, move them all into a folder named "Halloween 2024." Voilà—your spooky memes are now perfectly organized for the season!
Whether you're cleaning up old downloads, managing photo collections, or archiving projects, this tool sorts files by name patterns and dates, with renaming features to help you get control of data hoard.
Other Example Patterns:
image_??.jpg — Matches files like image_01.jpg, image_02.jpg, etc.
backup_202?.zip — Matches backup files from 2020, 2021, etc.
data_*.csv — Matches any CSV file starting with "data."
Example: Moving *.pdf files created in October 2024 to a folder named "October 2024" with prefix October_2024_ for easy sorting later.
The app prevents changes to system folders but be careful. Deleting is deleting, so be sure. You are responsible for your actions.
Because a minute of organization now saves you hours of searching later...at least, that's what my mom told me.
If you are like many users who tend to dump files in 'download" documents,' and 'pictures' and then get overwhelmed later trying to sort them out. This tool gives you a simple way to sort, categorize, and store your data logically -- for far easier retrieval later. If you are naturally a neat freak -- you have no need for this. Move on with your bad self.
