McAfee WildFire Ransomware Decryption Tool was designed to decrypt files that have been locked with the Wildfire ransomware.

As part of the NoMoreRansom.org initiative, the National High Tech Crime Unit of the Dutch Police took down the command and control servers operating the WildFire ransomware.

Because of this both McAfee and Kaspersky have developed decryption tools capable of unlocking user files, applications, databases, applets, and other objects infected by the WildFire ransomware.

McAfee WildFire Ransomware Decryption Tool and Kaspersky WildfireDecryptor is available free as a part of the No More Ransom project, an initiative to share ransomware threat intelligence, coordinate malware campaign takedowns, educate users on how to protect themselves, and provide tools to unlock infected systems.

McAfee WildFire Ransomware Decryption Tool requires using a Command Prompt and switches. If you're not familiar with DOS commands, we suggest you download Kaspersky WildfireDecryptor, which has a graphical interface.

Commands are:

-e - extractid [File Path] Extracts the User ID from an unaltered ransom note.
-f - file [File Path] This is the file to decrypt.
-h - help Prints tool instructions to the console.
-p - password [Password File Path] Indicates the password file to be used to decrypt.
-u - userid [User ID] Indicates the User ID to locate a potential decryption key.
