Simple Run Blocker, as the name suggests, is a portable, free app to simplify blocking applications from being used.
Simple Run Blocker needs to be extracted to a folder of your choice. You will find an executable and a configuration file. The configuration file can be ignored. Run, or create a shortcut, to RunBlock.exe.
To add a program you can either drag-and-drop a desktop icon or application to the window or click the blue plus button. Once added, click on save.
Interestingly, Simple Run Blocker runs in reverse by whitelisting applications as well. Add programs the same way as mentioned above, and when you have a list of programs, you will find a drop-down menu with the choices to block all, block only or disable blocking. This is a great way to lock down a computer only allowing access to specific apps. Smart.
Keyboard commands are also available:
Tab = Switch between buttons
Del = Delete selected items
Ctrl + a = Select all listed items
Ctrl + v = Add clipboard items to the list
F1 = About screen
But, wait, there's more. Under options, you can also hide or lock drives, show hidden files, block Microsoft Store, restart Windows Explorer, import or export a list, and change your language. A donate option is here as well.
Simple Run Blocker promised to simplify the blocking of apps, and more than delivered. It's so well thought out we couldn't help but smile as we discovered all the possibilities.
