SpotlightView is a portable counter-surveillance utility that is designed to hide most of your screen from view.

With SpotlightView, you can read sensitive documents safely in a public area without people spying over your shoulder. It works by obscuring about 99% of your screen with a black overlay leaving only a circle to show what lies beneath. The viewing circle is controlled by your mouse pointer allowing it to move freely, albeit very slowly. Any links, etc., viewed from the circle are active so you can navigate around.

SpotlightView seems more of a laptop utility but can also be useful for desktop users. We wish that there were some settings like the ability to adjust the viewing circle's size. To exit, navigate to a black area quickly, hit escape, or right-click the app icon from the taskbar - simple.

SpotlightView is not at all complicated but will serve its purpose for those that need to view sensitive data in a crowded office or public without sharing it with everyone present.
