Ultimaker Cura is the world's most popular 3D slicing application for 3D Printers.
If you are new to 3D printing or looking to get into it as a hobby. the first thing you need is a 3D printer. (My current printers are the Creality Ender 3 S1 and The Artillery Sidewinder) The next thing you need is a slicer program. Cura is one of the easiest to use out of the box, yet has hundreds of options for tuning as you get more proficient with your prints.
choose your printer from Cura's hundreds of installed profiles, or make your own as needed. You then load your file into Cura's integrated CAD software, and once you are satisfied with your positioning, size, layout, and other selections, you "slice" the file to be printed by your printer. Slicing simply means breaking your 3D object down into instructions and layers that are used by your printer to understand how to lay down your filament.
Cura allows you to set multiple print profiles. This helps you deliminate different printers, different filament types, and the quality you wish to print. You can also load and share print profiles from other users to help get better printing results.
Cura also has an online marketplace built-in which allows for the edition or community and professional plugins to help with your printing experience.
