Windicator is a no-frills Open Source Windows C++ app designed to track and display your current virtual desktop number from the systray. 

Windicator can keep track of up to 10 virtual desktops (10 displays as 0), keeping the systray icon neat. Windicator works by actively monitoring the registry for any virtual desktop changes and then will update the icon number to coincide. Any more than 10 and Windicator displays an asterisk. Why you would need more than 10 is what we want to know...

Windicator utilizes events to wait for registry changes. This means there is no background activity until you change desktops, and it uses very little memory and virtually no CPU.

Windicator helps keep you informed which virtual desktop is in use, saving you the annoyance of clicking around to find the desktop you need.
