WinSockFix is an old school, portable app designed to repair Winsock and TCP problems with instructions on doing so manually.
WinSockFix is free and portable. Instructions are provided when you run the app to give you the option of manually making all the changes that entail removing five registry entries, then removing and readding the TCP/IP protocols. You should back up your registry.
It would be faster nowadays to follow our tutorial How to reset Winsock on Windows 10\8\7.
Our test received a couple of errors (typical because many things have changed since this app was created, including registry entries). Still, WinSockFix did reset most of our Winsock and TCP settings and removed our internet adapter, which was restored after a reboot. Be sure you have your network drivers before using WinSockFix.
WiSockFix has worked for millions of people, but the app was built back in the Windows 95 and XP days, so we recommend Windows 10, 8, and 7 users try the steps in our similar links below.
