Woody Gammon is a Backgammon game that is no longer under development but still plays fine on today’s computers including multi-player. Project has been abandoned.

It allows you to play against a friend on the internet (you’ll need their IP address), saving and loading games, play against the computer and even let the computer play itself. It also offers suggestions, as seen in the second screenshot below. We have no real Backgammon experience, but this can teach you how to play. A status bar at the bottom tells you when it’s your turn, move rate, game type and more. The game is portable, so all you need to do is extract WoodyGammon.exe anywhere you like and play.

While Woody Gammon hasn’t been updated since 2004, we ran it just fine all the way up to Windows 10. It’s a small, free and fun game for Backgammon fans.
