29 Chuck E. Cheese locations to feature Oculus Rift headsets (Video)

Chuck E. Cheese has been more recently known as the place where parents can beat the heck out of one another while their frightened children cower inside the ball pit - rather than a place to try out some VR technology, (while your kids still cower in the ball pit). Regardless, they are going to give it a go. Chuckulus Rift Cheese?

The 'Virtual Ticket Blaster Experience' will be featured at 29 locations around the nation, including Dallas, San Diego, and Orlando. The deployment of the headsets should happen over the next six weeks.

In the game, according to TechCrunch, players will step into an enclosed booth, don an Oculus Rift VR headset and attempt to snag virtual Chuck E. Cheese tickets simulated to be blown around the booth as if there was a fan. You know, like those money/ticket machines found at roller rinks and bowling alleys.

“Kids today have unprecedented access to game consoles and tablets,” said Roger Cardinale, president of Chuck E. Cheese’s owner CEC Entertainment. “Our challenge is to deliver an experience not available at home, and there is no doubt virtual reality does just that. Oculus Rift technology is the next frontier in the gaming industry, and we’re thrilled to be able to say it’s part of the Chuck E. Cheese’s lineup.”

Again, back to the behavior of some patrons, I am sure that the 'Chuckulus Rift Cheese' will be ever so safe... ;)
