Ad Blocker? Please Consider Whitelisting or Donating to MajorGeeks

If you use an ad blocker, you're not alone. I finally had to cave in due to some websites ruining my experiences. But I whitelist my favorite sites and hope you will consider whitelisting MajorGeeks or supporting us in other ways.

Most programs, like AdBlock, have an extension in your browser that you can click and look for "Don't run on pages on this domain." They all might be a little different, but not by much as seen here:

You might not know that MajorGeeks is not big business, even though our name is pretty well known. Jim runs the business end; I run the content end, and Jon came on years ago to help add content. That's it. We all work from home.

Why Whitelist MajorGeeks?

Consider this:

Most websites dealing with Desktops and Tablets have taken numerous beatings over the years you might not have considered.

The iPhone was introduced in 2007. Since then, many people now use a smartphone or tablet as their primary device. Most of the remaining PC users now use their computers less.

MajorGeeks readers are savvier than the typical website, and because of this 70% are blocking ads. To make a comparison, when you use ad blockers on MajorGeeks, it would be the same as you going to work today and being told you're taking at least a 70% pay cut and you'll need to work more hours for the same money. That's our struggle, and we hope as fans you consider whitelisting MajorGeeks.

We're real people, just trying to make a living, much like you. We don't have shareholders, fancy offices, and we rarely see the sun. We are up as early as 5:00 AM EST and often work on and off all day until 10 or 11 at night. Seven days a week, including holidays and no days off.

Adblocking companies are now making deals to allow ads through, and they take a cut. We haven't even been able to get accepted into their scam because these "good guys" suddenly want money, and they want it off the backs of people doing the real work - providing the content. So, they need to take the biggest websites. You've noticed you always see Google ads. This alone is a huge reason to whitelist any of your favorite websites.

We try to monitor our ads for safety, and we don't use popups, popunders, and other sleazy tricks. All advertisements say Advertisement nearby. We're not perfect because we're constantly trying news ad companies, but we try hard to be as unobtrusive as possible.

Other Ways to Support MajorGeeks

If you still want to block ads, there are other ways you can help.
