The very rare working (allegedly only one of six) 1976 Apple-1 computer that we mentioned here, was sold at auction for a record breaking $671,400 in Germany.
That tops the last record by a small margin, but still, who would of thought that $666.00 would be such an investment.
Auctioner Uwe Breker told The New York Times' Bits blog that the appeal of the machine went far beyond the realm of geekery.
"It is a superb symbol of the American dream, you have two college dropouts from California who pursued an idea and a dream, and that dream becomes one of the most admired, successful, and valuable companies in the world."
The last time a similar condition Apple-1 sold the total take wound up being $640,000, Breker was in charge of that sale as well, so the record they broke was their own. Perhaps I will have to list some things there...
