Bing Bans Tech Ads

Posted by: Timothy Weaver on 05/17/2016 05:19 AM [ comments Comments ]

With the proliferation of fake tech support ads, Bing has banned them on their search engine.

Tech support ads and cold calls generally try to convince victims that there is something wrong with their system. They then try to extort the victim with fake security programs, fake repairs or at worst install malware on their systems. They can charge exorbitant fees for their fake services.

That is no longer going to be an issue because Bing has decided to ban all third party ads for tech services due to the high proliferation of illegitimate offerings.

The ban comes just days after Google has it was going to protect users from exploitative advertisers. It announced that Google will no longer accept ads from pay day loan operatives. Google is not the only one to ban pay day loan companies, FaceBook has also banned such ads.

The advertising gatekeepers are trying to make ads less harmful for internet surfers.
