If you were hit by the relatively new BitStak ransomware, there is good news.
Research Michael Gillespie has developed a decrypter. After researching the source code, the researchers are saying that this piece of malware was developed by an inexperienced hacker.
You can tell that you have BitStak by the way it encrypts your files. Both files and folders will have a randomly named extension such as"diolx.htp.bitstak." It also asks for a relatively paltry sum of 0.07 Bitcoin ($45 / €40).
After you download it from here, the decrypter is simple and straightforward to use. Just double-click it and press the giant button that says "Decrypt Files."
The ransomware author knows he is inexperienced and is asking for such a paltry sum to make as much money as he can in a short period.
If you have difficulty applying the fix, you can post in this forum.
