Blizzard Hit by DDoS Attack

Posted by: Timothy Weaver on 09/24/2016 07:49 AM [ comments Comments ]

Another DDoS attack has been directed at Blizzard Entertainment for a second day in a row.

Blizzard is the company behind many of today's most popular games. PoodleCorp has taken responsibility for the attacks.

The attacks were directed at Blizzards user authentication servers. The attacks did not target Blizzards servers directly, but instead the companies ISP.

Users flocked to Blizzards Twitter account and left messages such as "Blizzard upgrade your servers!" comments. The attacks lasted for 3 hours.

Blizzard has been attacked by PoodleCorp a total of five times so far. Two attacks were carried out in August.

The attacks, according to PoodleCorps Tweet, would be stopped if users retweeted a message "X" number of times.

In August, PoodleCorps source code DDoS botnet was leaked online, which allowed security personnel were able to stop the vDos DDoS-for-hire service.
