Facebook Nabs a Car Thief

How do you identify the thief who stole your car at knife point? Wait for Facebook to suggest you friend him.

That's what happened to a Birmingham, UK. victim. Detective Constable Rhiannon Daff said that was the last bit of a jigsaw puzzle that nabbed the robber.

Omar Famuyide, a 21-year-old from Highgate, Birmingham, was jailed after being convicted of robbery, attempted robbery, possession of a firearm and possession of a knife.

The victim recognized Famuyide after Facebook suggested he might know him.

It's being chalked up as a coincidence. Who knows what the odds are that a robber will turn up as a friend suggestion.

Famuyide was given a jail sentence of 17 years.
