Get Rid of Scratched Screens Once and for All

Posted by: J. McMahon on 06/22/2014 12:18 PM [ comments Comments ]

We’re geeks and nobody messes with our tech. And I mean nobody! But often we end up causing our own misfortune when by forgetfulness, clumsiness or sheer chance and bad luck we do something stupid that ends up ruining our tech -- and our lives -- for ever.

Like a scratched or damaged screen.

Is there anything more dreadful? One moment you’re living your life in perfect bliss; your happy face reflected in the silky smooth display of your brand-new gadget, when suddenly the dream shatters in a million pieces.

Or something like that.

Last week, at a concert, I reached in my pocket to take out my handy 20x optical Lumix to shoot some footage only to find the screen damaged beyond use. The concert was awesome, but the documentary was an epic fail.

Thankfully, a team from the Land of the Rising Sun, has invented the Puracoat solution promises to help with that.

Forget those sticky plastic screen protectors which trap air bubbles and make it impossible to enjoy your device properly. Puracoat is made using the same kind of nanotechnology that is being incorporated into the latest smartphones, to offer the best protection for your screens.

Puracoat not only is easy to apply, but it works on any kind of device. The fluid can be applied on every part of your device, including the screen and the casing, without sacrificing functionality or aesthetics. Your smartphone will look good and feel good and you can claim nanotech bragging rights. That sounds like it's worth $18.00 to me.

A little background

The technology used to create Puracoat was originally designed to protect glass windows on high-rise buildings, however the team realized this was going to be very expensive to produce so they decided to concentrate their efforts on smaller surfaces.

Thus Puracoat was born. Once ready, the product will be shipped in bottles of 5 mL that should be enough to provide protection to four smartphones and an iPad. The product is non-toxic and can be safely stored for up to 18 months after the bottle is first opened.

The Puracoat liquid screen protector will be packaged with a microfiber cloth, so it can be applied right out of the box to protect screens from fingerprints, dust, stains, scratches and water damage.

A crystal clear response

You can find out more about Puracoat on its Indiegogo campaign page. Check out the video to see it action, however we suggest you skip immediately to 1:00 since the part before that is poorly produced and the voice over is inaudible over the background music.

The campaign was launched on May 28 and will close on July 3, however the development team needn’t worry about reaching its goals. In less than a week since launching, Puracoat raised almost nine times its modest funds goal of $500!

With nearly a month to go before the end of the campaign, this shows that the team behind Puracoat have definitely tapped into a pressing need among tech fanatics.

The lowest priced perks on Puracoat’s Indiegogo page have already been snapped up, but if you wish to get your hands on the liquid screen protector at 10% off its retail price you can still do so by contributing to the campaign.

Other perks that are still available include a twin set and a family-sized pack of Puracoat which have international shipping included.

There's still plenty of perks available until 7/3. Until then, check out their IndieGogo campaign here.
