Grand Theft Auto hacked:200,000 Users Compromised

Posted by: Timothy Weaver on 08/24/2016 08:01 AM [ comments Comments ]

Another gaming forum has been hacked with the compromise of nearly 200,000 users.

GTAGaming is the parent of "Grand Theft Auto" which had stolen usernames, email addresses, hashed passwords and any other types of personal data saved to profiles. In addition, dates of birth, IP addresses and website activity were also compromised.

And yes, it was another hack due to the use of vBulletin. “We will be moving the account database into a more secure authentication system, removing all trace of the vBulletin forum software, and until then will be keeping a close eye to prevent any further compromises,” the GTAGaming post said.

The forums have been permanently closed and any accounts that are not updated are subject to being deleted. It is unclear as to whether or not this hack is related to any of the other breaches of gaming sites that we have reported lately.
