Hashtags on Facebook do nothing to help additional exposure

If I were to guess, Facebook adding hashtags was a bad idea. Why not stick to original ideas? If I wanted to use the pound sign, be limited in my characters or talk to a bunch of jerks who behave like children on Xbox, I can find my way to #Twitter.
According to EdgeRankChecker, hashtags have indeed failed so far. Actually, it turns out it can make things worse.
For Twitter, using a hashtag typically resulted in roughly double the likelihood of being ReTweeted. Over 70% of the brands experienced an increase in RT’s when using a hashtag versus not using one.
Posts with hashtags actually have less Viral Reach, on average, than posts with hashtags. Brands using hashtags should hypothetically be receiving additional exposure from other brands who are using these same hashtags.
So, just to make sure this article doesn't go viral:

I have seen a friend or two use hashtags on Facebook but occasionally I never really felt it fit on Facebook.
How about you?
