Lulzsec hacker sentenced

Lulzsec hacker Cody Andrew Kretsinger, AKA "recursion", was sentenced in a Los Angeles court. He drew a sentence of a year and a day, plus a year of home detention and a 1000 hours of community service. In addition, he is ordered to pay a restitution to Sony Pictures a fine of $605,663.

Several members of the Lulzsec group had hacked the servers of Sony's movie production and distribution group. They got away with the personal details of tens of thousands of registered users. Sony pleaded that they had suffered $600,000 in damages.

Fellow members, Raynaldo Rivera, AKA "royal", "neuron", and "wildicv", is being prosecuted at the same court with a verdict expected in May. Four other members are currently on trial in the U.K, three members already pleading guilty. Hector Xavier Monsegur, who is also known as "sabu", a co-founder of the LulzSec group, scheduled for sentencing in August of last year in the US had his sentencing deferred by an FBI request until August 2013 in exchange for tracking down other members of the group.
