Macy's Phishing Scam Discovered

Posted by: Timothy Weaver on 04/01/2016 10:29 AM [ comments Comments ]

The Better Business Bureau warns of scammers sending fake Macy’s delivery phishing emails.

Macy's has reported that there is a fake phishing email making the rounds reporting itself as a delivery notice for a non-existent order.

The email comes with a message similar to "Macys.com Order #5698 ready for delivery," according to the BBB's scam alert.

The email contains no mention of the fake delivery, but instead reads that the victim has won a "monthly" prize and directs the victim to click on a link to find out how to collect the prize. The prize is a malicious link.

There is no monthly give-away and the BBB said the links in similar scam emails have been used to steal user information or infect them with malware.
