Microsoft again urges users to abandon XP

Posted by: Timothy Weaver on 02/26/2014 10:04 AM [ comments Comments ]

According to a post, Microsoft is warning XP and Office 2003 customers to upgrade or face severe security risks.

According to the post: "Computers currently running Windows XP and Office 2003 won’t stop working on April 9, but over time security and performance will be affected.”

Although the company suggests an upgrade to Windows 8.1, they acknowledge that:
β€œThe majority of PCs running Windows XP are not capable of upgrading to Windows 8.1 due to the age of the hardware.”

According to the latest figures from NetApplications, XP has a 30% share of the market, Windows 7 holds 47% and Windows 8.1 comes in at a dismal 10.6 percent.
