Ann B. Davis who played the quirky housekeeper on the 70's sitcom 'The Brady Brunch' passed away today at her home in San Antonio, TX. The sudden passing was caused by an early morning fall in which the actress hit her head and suffered massive trauma.
According to the CNN report, close friend Bishop William Frey said Davis fell and hit her head Saturday morning in her bathroom. She suffered a subdural hematoma and never regained consciousness.
Appearing in her trademark light blue maid's uniform with a white apron, Alice anchored "The Brady Bunch" with her cheerful attitude and witty one-liners.
Davis was much more than just 'Alice' - the legendary actress twice won the the Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series and also has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Her big break in Hollywood came when she won the role of Charmaine "Schultzy" Schultz, the secretary on the 1950s sitcom "The Bob Cummings Show," according to the mini-bio on IMDb.
Before Hollywood, Anne spent a summer at the Cain Park Theater and a year at the Erie Playhouse in Erie, Pa. She studied everything about show production and played dozens of roles ranging from teenagers to characters over 60. In 1949, she arrived at Porterville, Ca. and spent three years at the Barn theater. She then moved down the coast to Monterey, where she appeared at the Wharf theater. From there she decided to try Hollywood. Anne has also played many parts on stage including "The Women", "Twelfth Night", "Dark Of The Moon", and others. Her mother, Marguerite Scott Davis, appeared with professional stock companies for over thirty years.
Davis mostly retired from show business in the late 1970s to settle down in an Episcopal community.
