The Verge reports that Microsoft has revealed that future 7- and 8-inch Windows 8 tablets will ship with a free copy of Office 2013. Speaking at Computex on Wednesday, Windows CFO Tami Reller revealed plans for Office Home and Student 2013 to be bundled with "small" Windows 8 tablets. It's up to OEMs to bundle the software, which includes access to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote
This is a good move for Microsoft as most people I know need Office features at one some point and the cost of the total package is too much. Majorgeeks has plenty of free alternatives in the office category but at least a free version of Word would be nice. Also, Windows is trying really hard to compete and this could give them a small edge considering that the Office suite has always been the industry standard.
