Sony offering discount after DDoS attack shuts them down at Christmas

Posted by: Timothy Weaver on 01/02/2015 11:43 AM [ comments Comments ]

Sony wants to make amends after outage during the Christmas season. It is offering a 10% discount on games, TV shows and movies. Playstation Plus members will receive an additional 5 days of membership.

Not all members were pleased with the announcement. One user wrote: "What I would like, more than anything else, is an explanation from Sony about how and why this will never happen again. Use the money to strengthen and diversify the network infrastructure so these types of attacks become harder to make and easier to recover from.”

Two people believed to have links to Lizard Squad were arrested this week by British and Finnish authorities, who also confiscated computers and other equipment.
