Students hack school district

Posted by: Timothy Weaver on 05/19/2015 10:24 AM [ comments Comments ]

Hacking the West Ada School District in Meridian, Idaho could land two students in juvenile detention for up to 180 days.

A 17-year-old Idaho high-schooler and a middle school student could face felony charges for a series of distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks. The investigators say the 17 year old paid someone to carry out the attack which resulted in the loss of teachers work and online learning materials.

Many students had to retake their SAT's for a second time because of the hack.

The 17-year-old was suspended after authorities tracked him down using his IP address. The teens family will be held responsible to cover any monetary loss.
