Trojan gift card offer targets WhatsApp users

A not-so new trojan is hitting users of the popular WhatsApp messaging service by enticing users marks to click a link bolstered by the supposed merging of Amazon and WhatsApp.



The scam link is to redeem a gift card to celebrate this monumental merger. According to Panda Security, if the user wants to obtain the card he must click the provided link. The cyber-criminals have also sweetened the pot by adding that there are only a limited number of cards left.

The only prize you will receive is a smartphone full of trojan goodness that will undoubtedly be used as a platform for other more sinister attacks.

So far it has only been encountered in Asia - for now....
